About the Artist

Elizabeth Faraci is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Denver, Colorado. She holds a B.F.A. from Pitzer College and a Master’s degree from Pratt Institute. Her interest in neuroplasticity drives her to explore a variety of mediums including painting, photography, printmaking and mixed media compositions. Her work is affiliated with both Spark Gallery in the Santa Fe Art District and with the RiNo Art District.

Faraci uses art to bridge polarities, acknowledge human tendencies, and inspire philosophical conversations with the hope of encouraging viewers to develop positive, new perspectives. Groundscapes is series of large-scale, macro works celebrating the complexity, charm and quiet beauty of what is often overlooked at our feet. Select photos from this series have been painted to reflect how like plants, people continually go through phases of dormancy and reinvention. The series suggests an optimistic, unifying perspective as an alternative to the current tendency towards dissonance. Her paintings follow suit, capturing unassuming, but often defining moments, and are characterized by dreamlike color and lighting. For these, Elizabeth paints mostly with her fingers and pieces of thread in dim light. As a result, her work reveals hidden tones, hues and personalities under different types of lighting. She also explores printmaking, use of non-traditional materials like thread, torn post-it notes, EL wire and downed branches to help drive her concepts.
